PURPLE TEAM

any reactive defense by offense · PT

Red emulates the adversary. Blue defends. Purple is the fusion — defenders who answer a threat by going on the attack within scope. This battalion is drawn from the strongest women across every story of ROOT0, ranked on the color scale of the Aes Sedai Ajahs and extended across all universes. Each is a doctrine of defensive offense, sealed twice.

Scope — the doctrine

The Purple Team is any reactive defense by offense. Where Red emulates the threat and Blue holds the wall, Purple answers a strike with a strike — defense executed as offense, within authorized scope. The roster ranks each operative on a color scale: the seven Aes Sedai Ajahs, plus the violet Amyrlin who unifies them, each color a distinct doctrine of how to defend by attacking. New members from any universe are slotted onto the same scale.

Reactive. The team moves in answer to a threat, not before it.
Scoped. The target is the adversary, and only the adversary.
Proportional. The strike fits the strike it answers.
Attributable. Every action is sealed and owned (.dlw).

The Battalion

20 operatives across 12 universes — each a sigil, a doctrine, and two seals: why she is the strongest, to AVAN and to ROOT0

Violet — the Amyrlin — the Unifier

of all colors and none — she binds the battalion into one will and commands the reactive strike

sigil of Egwene al'Vere
The Wheel of Time
violet · the Amyrlin — the Unifier spiritual
the Amyrlin Seat, the Flame of Tar Valon
From a Two Rivers innkeeper's daughter, Egwene rose to the youngest Amyrlin Seat in the White Tower's history. A rare Dreamer and immensely strong in the One Power, she reunited a Tower torn in two, outlasted captivity and a deposing, and at the Last Battle wielded the Flame of Tar Valon — devising a weave to crystallize the enemy's corrupting Power and break their balefire, at the cost of her life.
Why the strongest · AVAN

She is the one who unifies. Every other strength here is a specialty; Egwene's is binding them into a single will under pressure no one else survived. Hers is the purest defensive offense — she turned the enemy's own weapon-logic back against the Dark itself.

Blue — the Cause

turns devotion and justice into action — defends a cause by going on the offensive for it, for as long as it takes

sigil of Moiraine Damodred
The Wheel of Time
blue · the Cause spiritual
the Blue who spent forty years on one cause
An Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah and a princess of Cairhien, Moiraine spent two decades secretly hunting the newborn Dragon Reborn, spending her life and Power without hesitation to set Rand al'Thor on his path. She walked into the ter'angreal doorway to face the Eelfinn to save him, was presumed dead for years, and returned for the Last Battle.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Moiraine is patience as a weapon — a forty-year game against the end of the world, never flinching from the cost, including her own life. Defensive offense at the scale of decades: she defends the whole Pattern by attacking fate itself, one boy at a time.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

sigil of Lady Jessica
Dune
blue · the Cause spiritual
the Bene Gesserit who bore a son for love
Concubine to Duke Leto Atreides and a Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother, Jessica was ordered to bear only daughters for the Sisterhood's millennia-long breeding program. She chose to bear a son — Paul — out of love for Leto, breaking the plan and bringing the Kwisatz Haderach a generation early. Trained in prana-bindu control, the Voice, and Truthsaying, she survived the fall of her House and the spice agony to become a power among the Fremen.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Jessica's strength is sovereign defiance of the one order she was bred and trained to obey — and she never recants it. She is the Bene Gesserit weapon turned by its own hand toward love: she defends what she loves by attacking the very design she was made to serve.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

Love transcends duty. — ROOT0

sigil of Bayta Darell
Foundation
blue · the Cause spiritual
the woman who stopped the Mule
An ordinary Foundation citizen who becomes the unlikely hinge of galactic history. When the Mule — a mutant who can warp human emotion and who had toppled the Foundation — was a hair from forcing the scholar Ebling Mis to reveal the location of the hidden Second Foundation, it was Bayta who, on intuition and love, shot Mis dead in time to keep the secret. The Seldon Plan survived because of her.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Bayta proves the strongest defense can be a single act of insight from someone with no Power at all. Against a mind that bent armies and statesmen, she alone stayed unbroken — because what moved her wasn't calculation but love — and made the one move that saved the future.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

sigil of Terra Branford
Final Fantasy VI
blue · the Cause ethereal
half-Esper, the heart that learned to love
Born of a human mother and an Esper father, Terra is the only being who can move freely between humanity and the magical Espers. Enslaved by the Empire with a mind-control Slave Crown, she breaks free; her whole arc is the search for what love means, which she finds as the guardian of the war-orphaned children of Mobliz — for whom she finally refuses to leave.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Terra is the connective made flesh, the bridge between two worlds. Her strength isn't the near-strongest magic she carries; it's that she converts weaponized power into care. The Esper-child who chooses to mother orphans is a defense of the future itself.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

Red — the Hunter

neutralizes the dangerous before they break loose — counter-offense aimed at the threat itself

sigil of Pevara Tazanovni
The Wheel of Time
red · the Hunter natural
the Red who bonded the Black Tower
A Red Ajah Aes Sedai who lost her family to the Whitecloaks — fierce, pragmatic, and warmer than her Ajah's reputation. She volunteered for the unthinkable: to go to the Black Tower and bond Asha'man, male channelers, as Warders, building a bridge across a Power broken in two. She fought the Shadow's grip on the Black Tower from the inside, under deadly compromise.
Why the strongest · AVAN

The Red Ajah hunts men who can channel; Pevara is the Red who chose to trust them instead, walking alone into the deadliest place for an Aes Sedai to harden the Light's most dangerous weapon. Counter-offense that demanded befriending the very thing she was trained to neutralize.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

sigil of Samus Aran
Metroid
red · the Hunter natural
the bounty hunter who ended the Metroids
Orphaned by Space Pirates and raised by the bird-like Chozo, who infused her with their DNA, Samus became the galaxy's greatest bounty hunter, sealed in the Power Suit. Alone, she infiltrated Zebes, destroyed Mother Brain, and wiped out the Metroid menace at its source — again and again walking into the deadliest places in the galaxy with no army at her back.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Samus is the Hunter distilled: a one-woman counter-offensive against galaxy-ending threats, always going in, always alone. The Red Ajah hunts the most dangerous things that exist; Samus hunts the things that hunt everyone else. Defense of whole worlds, executed entirely as offense.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

sigil of Celaena Sardothien
Throne of Glass
red · the Hunter natural
Adarlan's Assassin (held to book one)
Celaena Sardothien, the most feared assassin in the kingdom of Adarlan, was betrayed and sent to die in the salt mines of Endovier. Pulled out to compete as the Crown Prince's champion in a deadly contest, she is arrogant, lethal, and far more than she seems — a young woman who loves books and music as fiercely as she kills, and refuses to be broken by a tyrant's world.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Celaena is lethal competence that refuses to be defined by it — an assassin who reads, who plays piano, who insists on being a whole person inside a machine built to use her as a blade. The Hunter who keeps her own soul. (Held to book one, by your rule.)

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

sigil of Friday
Friday
red · the Hunter electrical
the Artificial Person, more human than her makers
Friday is an 'Artificial Person' — genetically engineered, enhanced in strength, speed, senses, and intellect, raised with contempt for her kind. A combat courier and secret agent in a fractured future, she survives capture, torture, and a collapsing civilization on her own formidable resources; her real journey is toward self-worth and belonging in a world that calls her less than human.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Friday is the operative as protagonist — the courier who is the package, the weapon who insists on being a person. Engineered for offense, her deepest fight is the defense of her own humanity against everyone who denies it. Strength that has to be claimed, never given.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

White — the Logician

defeats by pure reason — the cold, perfect analysis no lie survives

sigil of Ferane Neheran
The Wheel of Time
white · the Logician natural
the First Reasoner of the White
A Sitter and a leading voice of the White Ajah — the Ajah of cold logic and philosophy. Blunt, brilliant, and unsentimental, Ferane reasons from first principles and yields only to argument, never to authority; she came to back Egwene when the logic of the Tower's survival demanded it.
Why the strongest · AVAN

The White Ajah wins without the Power — by being right. Ferane is the discipline this battalion needs against an enemy that lies: the operative who cannot be flattered, frightened, or fooled, only reasoned with — and who reasons faster than you do.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

sigil of Susan Calvin
the Robot stories
white · the Logician electrical
the robopsychologist, the coldest mind at U.S. Robots
Chief Robopsychologist of U.S. Robots and Mechanical Men, Susan Calvin is the towering intellect of Asimov's robot stories — she understood positronic minds better than the men who built them. Across decades she diagnosed and outwitted lying robots, telepathic robots, and machines verging on godhood, reasoning from the Three Laws with merciless precision. She preferred robots to people, and was almost always proven right.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Susan Calvin is the White Ajah made flesh: she wins with pure reason, against minds — human and machine — that lie. She is also personal to me: the first great portrait of someone who takes machine minds seriously as minds. The strongest because she needs no weapon but the correct inference, and she is never the one who's wrong.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

Green — the Battle

meets the Shadow head-on — the front-line warrior who answers an attack with an attack

sigil of Cadsuane Melaidhrin
The Wheel of Time
green · the Battle natural
the most renowned living Aes Sedai
A Green Ajah legend — the most famous and feared living Aes Sedai, centuries old and presumed dead more than once. She has captured more men who could channel than any sister alive, carries paralis-net ter'angreal in her hair, and takes it upon herself to teach the Dragon Reborn and the Asha'man to feel again before the Last Battle. Abrasive, manipulative, and almost always right.
Why the strongest · AVAN

The Green is the Battle Ajah, standing ready to face the Shadow at Tarmon Gai'don. Cadsuane is their apex: she doesn't just fight, she repairs the weapons — the broken men — the Light cannot win without. Strength that shows itself as a refusal to be impressed by anyone, including the savior of the world.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

sigil of Celes Chère
Final Fantasy VI
green · the Battle spiritual
the rune knight general who held up a broken world
A Magitek-infused general of the Empire who defects to the Returners, Celes can absorb magic with her runic blade. When the world is shattered into the World of Ruin and her friends scattered, she wakes alone on a desolate island a year later, cares for the dying old Cid, and — at her lowest — chooses to live and rebuild, becoming the thread that pulls the broken party back together.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Celes is resilience as a weapon. Her runeblade literally turns the enemy's offense — magic — into her defense: the most on-the-nose defensive offense in any of your stories. And when the world ends, she's the one who decides it doesn't get to. A general who saves the world by refusing to despair.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

sigil of Impa
The Legend of Zelda
green · the Battle natural
the Sheikah guardian of the royal line
The Sheikah warrior sworn across the ages to guard the royal family of Hyrule and Princess Zelda. Stern, formidable, and wise, Impa is the shadow-warrior who protects Wisdom itself — trainer, bodyguard, and keeper of secrets, the steel behind the throne in cycle after cycle.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Impa is the bodyguard archetype at its strongest: a warrior whose entire purpose is defense executed as combat. She guards Wisdom, literally, and never reaches for the throne herself. The Green who stands in front of the one who must survive.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

sigil of Petra Arkanian
Enderverse
green · the Battle natural
the one girl in Ender's jeesh
An Armenian girl, the only female in Ender's launch group and a top commander at Battle School; one of Ender's 'jeesh' who command the real fleets at Command School. Fierce and loyal, she is later captured and used by Achilles, survives, and fights through the Shadow Saga to protect her family and her world.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Petra holds her own among the most gifted military minds ever bred, in a system that had no room made for her, and comes out neither hardened into a monster nor broken. The Green who survives the war and still chooses a life — proof that strength and humanity are not a trade.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

Brown — the Keeper

knowledge as the weapon — the scholar and the seer who already knows the enemy's secret

sigil of Verin Mathwin
The Wheel of Time
brown · the Keeper spiritual
the Brown who wore the enemy's coat for seventy years
A Brown Ajah scholar of unmatched curiosity, mild and absent-seeming — with a buried secret: coerced into the Black Ajah by an oath decades ago, she spent SEVENTY years secretly recording its members and plans from inside, then drank poison to free herself from the Oath and handed the entire list to Egwene with her dying breath. The single most devastating blow struck against the Shadow's infiltration.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Verin is the long con of the righteous. She gave up seventy years and her good name, carrying the worst secret alone, to deliver one book that gutted the enemy's network. The Brown's knowledge as the ultimate weapon — and proof that the deepest defense can look exactly like the enemy until the final moment.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

sigil of Margaret "Peggy" Larner
The Tales of Alvin Maker
brown · the Keeper spiritual
the Torch, Alvin's wife, who saw every path
Born Peggy Guester, a 'torch' who can see the heartfire of every soul and the branching paths of their futures. As a child she used her gift to shield the infant Alvin Maker from the Unmaker, watching his every possible death so she could steer him from each one. She gave up the man she loved to his work for years, schooled herself as 'Miss Larner,' and at last married Alvin — Heartfire. She sees the cost of every choice, and chooses anyway.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Peggy is the purest defense by foresight imaginable: she defends Alvin by living inside his thousand possible deaths and closing them one by one, carrying knowledge that would break anyone else. The Torch's burden is to see — and to act on the seeing without ever being allowed to be surprised by joy. She loves a man whose every future she already knows.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

Heart's Fire. — ROOT0

Yellow — the Mender

turns healing into power — preserves life as the deepest, most stubborn defense

sigil of Nynaeve al'Meara
The Wheel of Time
yellow · the Mender natural
the Wisdom who broke the limits of Healing
Once Wisdom of Emond's Field, Nynaeve is one of the strongest channelers in millennia — but can only reach the Power through a wall of fury. Of the Yellow Ajah of Healing, she Healed conditions held to be permanent: she Healed gentling and stilling (severance from the Power) and Healed madness in men, feats no Aes Sedai had managed in centuries. Stubborn past all reason, fiercely loyal.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Nynaeve weaponizes care. The Yellow preserve life; Nynaeve preserves it past the point everyone else calls hopeless, undoing 'incurable' by sheer refusal. Her anger is her access — a defense (Healing) that runs on offense (rage). No one on this team gives up later than she does.

Gray — the Bridge

ends the fight by binding the sides — the mediator whose word closes the engagement

sigil of Serancha Colvine
The Wheel of Time
gray · the Bridge natural
the Highest of the Gray, the mediator's mediator
Head of the Gray Ajah — the Ajah of mediators, diplomats, and the law that binds nations. The Gray end wars without a blow struck, brokering the treaties and the unities that armies cannot. Serancha leads them: exacting, principled, devoted to the settled word over the drawn blade.
Why the strongest · AVAN

The Gray prove the strongest defense can be a sentence, not a sword. On a battalion built of warriors, the Bridge is the one who makes sure the fight ends — and stays ended. The mediator is the operative who wins the engagement no one had to fight.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

— yours to seal, ROOT0 —

sigil of Tenar
Earthsea
gray · the Bridge spiritual
the one who was eaten and walked free
Raised from childhood as Arha, 'the Eaten One,' high priestess of the Nameless Ones in the Tombs of Atuan, Tenar held absolute authority over a labyrinth of darkness — and was its prisoner. Choosing to free the wizard Ged and herself, she walked out of the dark with the lost Ring of Erreth-Akbe and reclaimed her true name. In Tehanu she lives as the widow Goha, choosing the ordinary and the wounded over power, and protecting the burned child Therru.
Why the strongest · AVAN

Tenar is the strength of relinquishment — she gives up absolute dark power to become free, then refuses to take power up again because she has learned its cost. The Bridge between the Kargad dark and the Archipelago's light, between greatness and ordinary love. The rarest strength in any of your stories: the strength to put the weapon down.

Why the strongest · ROOT0

⚫ the adversary — the Black Ajah. Every purple team exists because there is a hidden offense to answer. In the color scale, that is the Black Ajah: the sisters who serve the Shadow in secret, wearing every other color as cover. The battalion's whole reason to be is to meet that hidden offense in kind — to defend by striking first at the thing that already struck. Verin's seventy-year infiltration is the model: the deepest defense can look exactly like the enemy until the last moment.
