From Enheduanna, the first author known by name, and Hypatia to Wollstonecraft and de Beauvoir, women did philosophy in every era — often brilliantly, almost always against the door.
Their books went unprinted or unattributed, their chairs denied, their names dropped from the lineage. Absence from the canon was made, not natural.
The recovery is recent and ongoing — rediscovered manuscripts, restored citations, seats finally named. The canon is being corrected; the lost centuries between cannot be.
