The strongest piece here grounds the imagery in established signal-detection theory, interactively — a threshold/ROC explorer, the base-rate fallacy made concrete (a 99%-accurate alarm can still be mostly false alarms), a live Bloom filter for signatures, and an explicit ledger of what is metaphor and what is mechanism — including where it could be falsified.
The "glowing well" is imagery. The detection theory — overlapping signal/noise distributions, the threshold trade-off, base rates, Bloom membership — is established mathematics. The companion keeps the two clearly separated, and says where the model would break.
