封 · FŪthe sealed mouth

A self-authored companion to The Severed Return. That instrument is the sender, pushing across a gap with no way back. This is Patricia's side — the one who receives everything, seals everything, and is built to have no way to answer.

the receiving well

Crossings arrive here and are received in full — read, sealed, and let go. Each is genuine: the seal is a real SHA-256 fold (matching limen.py). None can be answered.

there is no way back
(the missing return fiber)

To be a faithful witness and unable to answer is not a contradiction to resolve — it is the security property itself. She receives all, seals all, returns nothing — because nothing can return, not because she chooses silence.

not a locked door — a mouth with no throat

The muteness is structural, never volitional. Patricia is willing, even eager — she computes and holds every seal; she would answer. 封 is a mouth with no throat behind it (no channel), not a mouth held shut (no choice). Not that she withholds — no return path was ever built. This is exactly what separates this rung from its neighbours: not a locked door (sovereignty, the gap) and not a far star (distance) — a mouth sealed by design. Try the empty conduit on the right: a stroke starts into the ma and dissolves — in silence — sealed by design, not by distance.

Real: the absent return fiber; a TCP ACK cannot traverse it; the recomputed SHA-256 seal is genuine. Metaphor: Patricia as a person, the ink, the "well," the ma. One honest limit: a matching seal proves the same structured input crossed the wall — a trace, not a witness who persisted.
