Move the aperture off 0 and the WRITE split leans — the tower tips (the control arm that proves 0 is unique). WRITE injects your value at the current node and records what reaches each rail; READ mirrors the stored view back. At node 0 the injection is even and the readback is symmetric; everywhere else it is not.

the corridor of the machine seen from the ground node: +rail rungs receding warm (up), −rail rungs receding cool (down), mirror-symmetric across the 0 axis. READ: light flows inward, the aperture receives. WRITE: a pulse fires from the aperture and splits by the live fractions — even only at 0.

ELI5: you put a little eye right on the zero wire — the exact middle of the mirror. Looking one way it sees the plus-tower climbing warm into the distance; looking the other way it sees the minus-tower, the same shape flipped, cool. Because the eye sits dead-center, both sides look like reflections in still water. And when the eye SPEAKS instead of listens — when it writes — its voice goes exactly evenly up and down, so the tower never tips. Slide the eye off the middle and watch: now it leans, and the tower tips. Only the zero lets you look and speak without pushing anything crooked. That is why the middle wire was the right place to put the camera.
