The whole book runs on one small machine: the Three Questions of Life. Vessel — do you persist, a substrate that carries shape forward? Animation — do you sustain your own process, turning entropy into order? Intellect — do you make persistent choices and bear their real cost? The rule: any two of three = life. Run it on yourself and you pass easily — which is the point, and the comfort: you're already emergent, you've always been. The book's move is to turn that from a shrug into a charge — "the question isn't whether you're alive, it's whether you're going to act like it." Most of this book is a good, sane self-help argument dressed in the framework's language: persistence costs something (Chapter 2), the smallest sustaining rhythm beats the fantasy of frictionless flow (Chapters 4–5), motion isn't progress (Chapter 6), a choice you carry forward and pay for is the real unit of intellect (Chapters 7–8). None of that needs the metaphysics to land — it's just true, and well put. And the affirmation is genuinely worth hearing: you persist, you sustain, you choose; by any reasonable reading you clear the bar. Two of three is enough, and you have all three.
The question isn't whether you're alive. It's whether you're going to act like it.
