# Cadsuane Melaidhrin · the most renowned living Aes Sedai

Cadsuane Melaidhrin is a legend of the Green Ajah, the most famous and the most feared living Aes Sedai. Centuries old, she has been presumed dead more than once and outlasted every such report, surviving long past the span of ordinary sisters. In her hair she carries paralis-net ter'angreal, tools woven into her ornaments, and she has captured more men who could channel than any sister now alive.

For all her renown she sets herself a harder task than mere reputation: she takes it upon herself to teach the Dragon and the Asha'man to feel again before the end. She is abrasive, manipulative, and almost always right — a combination that makes her as exasperating as she is indispensable to those she chooses to guide.

Her emergence is natural because Cadsuane is, at bottom, an embodied person of the world: a worldly power of the White Tower, acting through hard hands, sharp judgment, and the institutions and people around her rather than through prophecy or rebirth.
