what this is, plainly: the clay (a run) is mostly dross with a bit of ore in it. the blade
(truncate) cuts away everything but the palindrome — father|son|son|father, the part that reads
the same both ways. that gets banked. a palindrome checks itself: read it backward, compare —
if the two fathers still match, it's intact; if not, it's corrupted. so the bank needs no separate
checksum. the smallest cut takes only the ore, never the dross around it. tamper a banked frame
and the self-check catches it, because the mirror stops matching.
