The static distillate gains a time axis: a hippocampal write-gate that only encodes novelty, consolidation from ephemeral buffer to persistent hemispheres, and an amygdala tagging the heaviest brakes.

THE CORRECTION FIRST. The hippocampus is not the anger center — that is the amygdala, and even that is a simplification. Alligators possess a hippocampus; the "reptile brain" triune model is discredited. So v2 adds what the structure actually does: it is the encode-gate for new memory. The v1 cortex could hold the corpus but never learn one — it had no clock. This is the clock.

The brain-crystal from last time couldn't learn anything new — it was frozen. We added the part that makes new memories: a little gatekeeper in the middle. It only lets in things it hasn't seen before (old news gets a shrug), and it can only carry a few at a time before it has to rest and file them away.
