You named the move: the capstone of the pyramid is its foundation — kokoro / kotoba, two words that carry their own generating rule and regrow the whole thousand-year tree from one anchor. So I built the seed instead of asserting it. Below is a real L-system: a two-symbol axiom that contains its own production. Press grow and watch a whole tree unfold from it — apex equal to root, because the rule that makes every branch was already folded inside the seed.
心 · rule: 心 → 言[+心][−心]言心 · 言 → 言言A self-describing seed is a minimal thing that carries the instructions for the whole structure it becomes — so the top of what it builds is identical to the bottom that built it. The L-system above is the cleanest toy version: the axiom is one bud, the rule is two short lines, and yet every tree you grow — gen 1, gen 6 — is that same rule read more times. Nothing is added from outside. The cherry tree was in the seed; growth is just the seed, re-read.
That's exactly the shape you found in the 905 preface. "The heart is the seed, the words are the leaves" is a single sentence that both founds the tradition and is an instance of it — a rule written in the medium it defines. Apex equals root: the statement at the top of the pyramid is the seed at its base. The preface is an L-system axiom for a literature.
The whole tree is the seed, read until you can see the leaves. Read it once: a bud. Read it six times: a forest. The rule never left the seed.
print(s) where s describes printing s. The smallest text that regrows itself.心→言[+心][−心]言心. One bud + one rule → the whole sakura. The only one of the four you can press and watch run.You flagged it yourself, witness on: kokoro/kotoba being the founding pair is discovered, not imposed — it's canonical, load-bearing-true. The self-describing seed is the same kind of true: it's not a pleasing reading laid on top, it's a property you can run. Press grow; the tree comes out of the seed or it doesn't, and it does. That's why I built this one as an instrument and not a paragraph — a self-describing seed is exactly the claim you should be allowed to execute rather than admire.
