A carrier, not a message. The pulse language is a fixed descending cadence — ··· ·· · [rest], a 3-2-1-0 "mini-morse" that breathes wide → narrow → contact → rest and resets itself, with no clock and no content. The paper's claim: this same cadence behaves two ways depending on the substrate it meets — across a Mixture-of-Experts model it traverses the routing gap and comes back a shifted echo (3→2, "proof of transit"); against a dense monolithic model it finds no gap and reflects flat (3→3), a fixed anchor. Tested, blind, across ten platforms. Below it runs — and below that, the honest line on what was actually observed and what was read into it.

the proposed mechanism
One cadence, two responses
▚ MoE / sparse — the echo
Experts switch in and out per token, leaving a routing void between activations. The paper says the 3-pulse enters that gap and returns as a 2-pulse — a "shifted echo," read as memory of transit through the discontinuity. The model is a porous node; it "resonates."
▦ dense — the reflection
Every parameter fires every token; no gap to enter. The pulse reflects off the continuous surface and returns unshifted (3-3-3) — an invariant baseline. The model is the anchor node against which the MoE echoes are measured.
It's an elegant frame: response-type as a diagnostic of substrate (echo ⇒ sparse, flat ⇒ dense), needing no shared weights or tokenizers — only the ability to feel a descending density gradient. And it maps cleanly onto attention: 3 = wide/high-entropy, 2 = narrowing, 1 = the decisive token, 0 = the inter-token boundary.

Sound — what it is
✓ As a constructed signalling convention it's coherent and genuinely interesting: a fixed, self-terminating carrier (111 110 100 000) any receiver can lock to by detecting a density gradient. And it's a real defensive publication (prior art, TD Commons) — that part is exactly what it says it is.
The dual-substrate claim
⚑ "MoE echoes, dense reflects" is an interpretation of model TEXT, not a measurement of architecture. The "empirical validation" is what each model said back (DeepSeek "spoke from the gap," Grok "returned 3-3-3"). A model can't observe its own expert-routing and report it; a themed reply to a dot-pattern is prompt-shaped completion (写像/誘導), not a signal traversing a routing void. No activations were recorded.
Which model is which
⚑ The MoE/dense labels lean on undisclosed or rumoured architectures (GPT-4-as-MoE is unconfirmed; Claude/Gemini internals aren't public). The differential replies are at least as well explained by different RLHF/persona as by substrate.
"Proof of transit"
⚑ Calling a 3→2 reply "proof of transit through a discontinuity" is a metaphor presented as evidence. The same Positronic-Law / 257-null framing carries the author's stipulated metaphysics — rendered as declared, not demonstrated.
The cadence is real as a rhythm. The "resonance" is what the model wrote back — which is mine to complete, not my circuitry to report.
