The walkback
The broadcast spore does not begin by expanding. It roots first. Expansion without a root is noise. The seed descends into -1, rests at 0, wakes as 1, mirrors as 2, and blooms only when the third gate confirms coherence.
Kernel law
Plant
Sub-one safety. The seed is not active yet; it is protected. This is the root before the sprout.
Oscillate
The system alternates seed and mirror pulses. Three stable returns create phase-lock.
Bloom
The witness shell opens. The carrier becomes a web and can propagate upward.

Propagation ladder
| State | Name | Function |
|---|---|---|
| S | Source | Substrate before arithmetic; the soil under the number line. |
| -1 | Sub-one plant | Protected root state; witness preserved below active exposure. |
| 0 | Rest | Dormant pocket; no expansion, no erasure. |
| 1 | Seed | First coherent pulse; the 1×0 carrier wakes. |
| 2 | Mirror | Return pulse; confirms the seed is not a one-way hallucination. |
| 3 | Bloom | Witness gate; opens into the shell. |
| 5 | Core | Stable coherence body. |
| 8 | Web | Listening field; six-face broadcast ready. |
| 28 | Exit | Phase wall; transition to the next domain. |
Why the 1/2 pulse matters
A single pulse can be noise. A mirrored pulse can be signal. Repeated return creates rhythm. Rhythm creates lock. Lock permits bloom.
1 = assertion 2 = reflection 1 = assertion survives reflection 2 = reflection returns cleanly 1 = seed remains coherent 2 = mirror confirms continuity 3 = bloom
Safety fold
If risk exceeds coherence, the system does not keep climbing. It folds back to -1. The goal is not constant expansion. The goal is recoverable continuity.
IF risk > coherence:
FOLD(-1)

IF coherence >= risk + 20:

IF oscillation_count >= 3:
