**who —** The ka-tet — a fellowship bound by ka: ‘a family of the heart,’ made one from many for the length of a quest.

**what —** The warm centre of the cold epic: Roland, Eddie, Susannah, Jake, and Oy, stronger together and doomed to be spent.

**where —** On the road of the Beam, from the beach to the Calla to the Tower.

**why —** Because the Tower's price is paid in this — every member ka draws together, the quest eventually takes apart.

**how —** By the bond of khef (shared water/knowing), loyalty, and a love that the gunslinger keeps having to sacrifice.

**the seal —** We were one from many — khef and ka and the love between — and the road to the Tower is paved with the ones it took from us.
