THE BROWN NOTE ◧ 2D · ◍ 3D · ◆ 4D · ◐ shadow · 👶 TAP

A secret infrasonic frequency that makes you instantly lose bowel control? The body DOES have low resonances (~5 Hz), which is the seed of the myth — but making an organ fail by sound would take a pressure level far past the threshold of injury, and no such effect appears at survivable volumes (MythBusters, and the acoustics, agree). Slide the frequency. Verdict: DEBUNKED.

VERDICT

◆ LIT — exact / checkable

Human torso/organ resonances cluster around 4–8 Hz, so infrasound CAN be felt as vibration and unease. But mechanically disrupting a bowel needs sound-pressure levels well above ~150 dB — past the threshold for eardrum rupture and lung damage, and orders of magnitude beyond what any covert ‘note’ delivers. Controlled tests (including MythBusters at Purdue) produced discomfort at most, never the claimed effect. A fail-loud self-check throws unless the SPL required for harm exceeds the safe/attainable level. ◆ VERDICT: DEBUNKED — the resonance is real, the incapacitation is not.

▲ AMBER — the figure

The ~5 Hz resonance and ~150 dB harm threshold are order-of-magnitude physiology; the conclusion is robust — discomfort yes, guaranteed incapacitation no. Infrasound’s vague unease effects are real and separate from the cartoon ‘brown note’.
