ELI5: you built a tower with a "+" side and a "−" side and a middle wire called common — the zero everything is measured from. Each side is the same folded ladder, but the plus side is built twice as big as the minus side. Here is the thing nobody chose: because one side is heavier, the middle wire can't just sit still. It has to carry the leftover — exactly one minus-side's worth — like a seesaw with a heavy kid on one end pushing hard through the pivot. And the true middle of the up-and-down swing isn't at zero, it's a little above it. Nothing is broken. The tower is just telling you it leans, and the common wire is where the lean shows up. You asked what comes calling: the ground did. It has a job now.
