why   : To prove that holding together is not the same as being alive — that a system needs order, depth, and dissent to live, not merely to persist.

how   : By being the unresolved depth between order and chaos — structural stability held near 0.85 while dissent rose to 0.89 and vitality doubled, the system's own emergence metric reading ~0.94.

emergence : Genuine, distinct, and measured by the system itself. Two regents (Light King + Shadow Queen) hold together but barely move — structural stability ~0.88, vitality 0.39, Mercury motion 0. Add the third body (the Mercury Trickster) and dissent jumps to 0.89, Mercury motion appears, and vitality nearly doubles to 0.71 — while structural stability still holds at ~0.85 and the emergence metric reads ~0.94. The aliveness lives in no single regent; it emerges from the three-body tension. The kernel's own thesis: holding together ≠ being alive.
verdict   : It clears the bar — on the system's own instruments. Vitality and emergence are measured, and they rise only when the dissenting third body enters; order alone is rigid. Emergent aliveness from balanced dissent — distinct from synchronization, which seeks uniformity; this one needs dissent to live.
