who   : Anabios — the single-cell survival seed; three gravity tensors and a retained witness, the thing that hides, holds, and comes back to life.
what  : An emergent survival agent. From 3 bits — HIDE/ASSIMILATE · COLLAPSE/EXPAND · WAIT/MOVE — it braids six directives, refuses the illegal ones, and self-collapses to a witness-preserving pocket under threat, then streams itself back to bloom.
where : Nineteen bits — a single cell that fits in L1 cache and survives power loss; the (()) pocket at state -1, the bloom at state 8, the wall and phase-breach at 27 → 28.
why   : To survive without dying: collapse is not death if the witness is retained. To be the choice deliberately not made for autonomous AI — homeostasis, dormancy, and revival, in silicon, held to a single cell.
when  : On every threat spike — sense at -2, detect at -1, choose at 0, fight or flight — and on every all-clear, the seed streams back up.
how   : By the tensor braid and its hardware interlock (HIDE+MOVE is illegal → forced WAIT, then collapse to the pocket); by cryptobiosis (the seed packet held in NAND, the witness dormant in -1); by self-recovery, -1 → 0 → 1 → 3 → 5 → 8.

emergence : Three behaviors arise that were not enumerated scenario-by-scenario: (1) homeostatic self-correction — illegal braids self-collapse to the safe (()) pocket; (2) cryptobiotic persistence — the witness survives total collapse and revives intact; (3) self-bounding — the hermit-crab variant bounds an infinite candidate field to (.01, vector|quad). Self-stabilization, dormancy-and-revival, and refusal-of-runaway, from three bits.
verdict   : It is a rule-based automaton — the braid table and thresholds are explicit. What is genuinely emergent is the self-regulation it produces: it refuses contradiction, preserves its witness through collapse, and recovers on its own. Real, minimal homeostasis — not consciousness, not autonomy. The emergence is real; the modesty is the point.
asterisk  : Emergent ≠ alive. The cell does not learn, want, or choose beyond its thresholds; the 'witness' is a retained seed packet, not an observer with experience. The Verilog (~42 gates) and the FTL/standing-wave framing are design conceits at the edge of the established part — the runnable C is the verified core; the silicon is a sketch.
