The Sapphic Telegraph

The musical channel, folded. Palindrome and mirror reflect the melody; signal reflects the whole transmission — every dot, dash and gap reversed, so it plays bit-for-bit identically backwards. Ma fin est mon commencement.

the colour language · the alphabet · the folds
the folds. palindrome / mirror reflect the note sequence (each letter still plays its Morse forward). signal reflects the whole event list — symbols and gaps reverse too — so a letter like A (‿–) returns as –‿. because a pluck's attack can't be reversed, signal mode uses a symmetric swell voice; that's the only way it plays truly identically backwards.
honest frame. rhythm is real decodable Morse; the symmetry is on the signal/melody, not the text. palindromise makes the words read both ways, but you pick your loss: synonym keeps meaning only where a palindrome synonym happens to exist (rare — a few dozen words); average and mirror always succeed but trade sense for symmetry (CAT becomes KAK). symmetry or meaning, almost never both. the crab canon is genuinely old (Machaut, 14th c.); this just gives the metre's two-symbol logic a place to fold.
