THE TUN SEASON

tardigrades curl up for the drought and wake with the rain

THE RULE

Rain wets patches, and the water spreads and dries. An active tardigrade grazes, breeds and starves. When its cell dries below θ it usually curls into a tun (no metabolism), and it uncurls when the cell is wet again. Tuns slowly decay, and an animal caught dry without curling dies.

Tap to make it rain. The same ?seed= always gives the same run.

WHAT IS CLAIMED

LITTardigrade cryptobiosis (the tun state) is real biology. The page checks the ledger population = start + born − died every 30 steps, or it throws.

AMBERThe rates are made up; this is a model of the strategy, not of a species.
