1692–93
THESIS The Salem witch trials were 1692–93, not 1776. LITMore than 200 people were accused and 30 convicted. 19 were hanged, Giles Corey was pressed to death (19 Sept 1692) for refusing to plead, and at least 5 died in jail: 25 deaths in all (verified: Smithsonian, Mass. Judicial Archives). The Court of Oyer and Terminer, which accepted "spectral evidence", was dissolved in October 1692. Exonerations came in stages. In 1711, restitution was paid and most attainders were reversed (14 of the 20 executed). In 1957, Resolves ch. 145 named Ann Pudeator "and certain other persons". In 2001 (Acts ch. 122), Bishop, Martin, Parker, Scott and Redd were named. On 28 July 2022 (FY23 budget §105), Elizabeth Johnson Jr. was added, the last; she was convicted in 1693 but not executed. MODELA toy accusation cascade: each accused names others while spectral evidence is admitted. Turn it off and the cascade dies.
MNEMONIC "Nineteen hanged, one pressed, ninety-two." (1692)

Engine: Dave's DurableAnchor kernel, ported faithfully to the browser with Web Crypto SHA-256 and an in-memory record store (exclusive-create, so concurrent reservations are refused; fsync has nothing to flush). The ledger starts empty on each load. Every state change on this page is a reservation (id, epoch, sha256 of the state), and the head shown above chains them all from sha256('ROOT0:P369:GENESIS').
