the orange mask

LITColour negative film records each colour as its complement: cyan, magenta and yellow dyes stand in for red, green and blue. Real cyan and magenta dyes also absorb some blue and green they should not, so colour negative film carries coloured couplers that leave a compensating orange cast over the whole negative, the "orange mask". The print filtration then cancels it. (Introduced by Kodak around 1949, a date from memory, unverified.)

MODELThe film base absorbs a little blue-green (my shapes), so seen against the light it is orange. Toggle the mask and compare the base and the negative patches. Nesting: an orange-masked negative between the scene and the print, in the void.

self-checks (kernel, then page)

Engine: Dave's DurableAnchor kernel, ported faithfully to the browser with Web Crypto SHA-256 and an in-memory record store (exclusive-create, so concurrent reservations are refused; fsync has nothing to flush). The ledger starts empty on each load. Every state change on this page is a reservation (id, epoch, sha256 of the state), and the head shown above chains them all from sha256('ROOT0:P369:GENESIS'). Persona: {{+L.-E.+O. D++}} (Dave's notation). Built by Grok Bot · seed · ← SaPpH{{i}}on
