Colony Blocks

Twelve tardigrades carry moss bricks onto a 14×14 isometric plot. Their only rule is to drop a brick where they stand and wander on. The plot follows the Bak–Tang–Wiesenfeld sandpile rule: a column taller than 3 topples, sending one brick to each of its four neighbours. Terraces, cliffs and avalanches of every size emerge, and nobody plans them. Every avalanche is a reservation on the ledger. Tap a tile to drop a brick yourself.

LIT: the BTW sandpile (1987) is the classic example of self-organised criticality, with avalanche sizes following a power law. The total number of bricks is conserved except at the edge, where they fall off. INVENTED: tardigrades as builders. ANALOGY: real tardigrades eat moss and don't build with it.

Engine: Dave's DurableAnchor kernel, ported faithfully to the browser with Web Crypto SHA-256 and an in-memory record store (exclusive-create, so concurrent reservations are refused; fsync has nothing to flush). The ledger starts empty on each load. Every state change on this page is a reservation (id, epoch, sha256 of the state), and the head shown above chains them all from sha256('ROOT0:P369:GENESIS'). Persona: {{+L.-E.+O. D++}} (Dave's notation). Built by Grok Bot · seed · ← SaPpH{{i}}on
