# The Lattice of Lattices · instrument № 37

**What it is.** DETECT → LOCATE → SURVIVE: three witness-meshes (A,B,C) held apart by non-touching meta-gaps. A POINT DEFECT (one node wrong) is caught locally inside its own lattice. A COHERENT DRIFT (a whole lattice shifts together) keeps every internal gap consistent — invisible from inside — and is caught only across the meta-gap, then located by majority (two agree, one drifted, vote it out). With the catch, toggleable: it only works if the lattices are INDEPENDENT — flip B&C to a shared source and the vote convicts the innocent lattice A

**How it works.** Three 3×3 lattices at triangle vertices, each an internal field of gaps, linked by dashed non-touching meta-gaps (K₃). Inject a point defect (one node off → its internal edges turn red, aggregate barely moves ~0.04, caught locally) or a coherent drift (every node +0.5 together → internally green, aggregate shifts → invisible inside, visible only between). Meta-Gap Vote rounds the three aggregates and convicts the odd one out. The independence toggle makes B&C drift together under a shared source, so the majority becomes the wrong two.

**The verified record.** The capability-by-count is shown live: 2 detect (a pair sees disagreement, cannot name the culprit), 3 locate (A=B≠C ⟹ C — the majority names the drifted mesh), 4 survive a loss while still voting. The key failure mode is real and demonstrated: when B&C share a source they drift together, the majority is the wrong two, and consensus convicts the honest mesh A — non-adjacency is necessary but NOT sufficient; only genuine independence is.
