LIT WALKER lists the Dyck words of semilength 5 by trying an open parenthesis before a close, and keeps the word at index 20. The word is (()()())(). Ten steps are kept and ten opposite parentheses are dropped, because each opposite step leaves that word. The counts for semilengths 1 through 5 are 1, 2, 5, 14, and 42, and each count matches the ballot number. The law sums to 64. A second run must match.

AMBER Dyck words and Catalan numbers carry those assigned names. The counts on this page are recomputed.

WALL The walk is semilength 5, and only the word at index 20 is drawn. It is not a walk of every longer word.

MODEL One pupil. Ten blocks rise and fall with the word. A parenthesis is kept only when the chosen word still lies ahead. No cartridge is loaded.
