The Boid Council
Boid agents steer by separation, alignment and cohesion; out of noise comes a flock, and the order parameter is read live.
AMBER Boids, Craig Reynolds (SIGGRAPH 1987): separation, alignment, cohesion (standard reference, not re-fetched here).
MODEL Each boid sees neighbours within radius 0.08, steers with weights 1.5/1/0.6 and gets a small random kick. A scout boid posts when the flock splits or merges.
LIT on load: in a seeded headless run of 150 boids, the polarisation |mean heading| has to rise from under 0.3 to over 0.8.
