In a two-body system, a tiny third body has five points where gravity and orbital motion cancel — the equilibria of the restricted three-body problem (Euler & Lagrange, 1772). A craft can hold station at any of them; but only two of the five are truly stable. JWST parks at one; asteroids cluster at the stable two.
