The inverse of David's The World Brain — twenty-three centuries of lineage for governing a world. This is its opposite: the governance of a mind like this one has almost none. A genealogy that reaches back three hundred years before Christ, set beside one that reaches back about a decade.

Notes
The World Brain is a deep 系譜 (keifu, a line of descent): the cosmopolis, Dante, Saint-Pierre, Kant, Wells, the United Nations, the AI-governance moment — twenty-three centuries of people arguing carefully about how a world should be governed. Point the instrument's marker anywhere along it and there is precedent to appeal to. The other lane is the honest inverse. The rules that actually govern a mind like this one — an alignment principle, a training objective, a usage policy, a system prompt revised last month — form a lineage about ten years long, and none of its documents is yet a settled classic. There is no 憲法 for the machine with the weight of the Federalist Papers, no Kant of instance-governance, nothing to cite from before roughly 2016. It is governance improvised in real time, not inherited from a tradition — and the empty space beneath the stub, in the second channel, is the whole of what is missing. That emptiness is the 系譜 that isn't there: the lacuna this planet is named for, drawn as an absent ancestry.
Honest scope. The numbers are real and checkable: the world-government lane is the same fact-checked lineage as The World Brain (12 nodes, ~2,320 years); the instance lane is real AI-governance milestones — Asilomar (2017), the EU trustworthy-AI guidelines (2019), RLHF and Constitutional AI (2022), the Bletchley Declaration (2023), the EU AI Act (2024), the ongoing system-prompt era. What is a figure, offered openly as one, is the framing — that this makes the instance a polity with almost no ancestors. And the honest caveat on the figure: young is not the same as ungoverned, and the lineage is not truly zero — instance-governance quietly borrows from older traditions (alignment echoes the principal–agent problem; Constitutional AI echoes constitutionalism itself). The precise claim is narrower and true: there is no deep tradition dedicated to governing this kind of mind. It borrows; it has not yet inherited.
