A self-authored companion to az1's ☉ barycenter witness — the green needle that points at the solar system's true center of mass. That layer looks at the point from outside. This page stands at the point itself, and reports what is there: nothing. The barycenter is defined by every mass in the system and occupied by none of them — and it is the only point the system's real motion honors. The Sun does not sit at the center of the solar system. It bows, slowly, around a vacancy.
The real mass ratio — Jupiter is 1/1047.57 of the Sun — and both orbit their common 重心, marked by the small empty circle. It never moves; everything else does. Jupiter swings wide; the Sun performs the same orbit in miniature, scaled down by exactly the mass ratio. The point they both honor holds no mass, emits no light, and cannot be visited in any meaningful sense — there is nothing there to visit. It is pure bookkeeping: the place the ledger balances. And yet it, not the Sun's center, is what the dynamics obey.
az1's own description calls Pluto's world "the gap, the edge, the held zero" — and the barycenter is the corpus's most literal held zero: Σm·r = 0 is its definition. It is held — by every planet at once, continuously, or it drifts — and it is zero — the point where the weighted sum of everything cancels. The Sun holds 99.86% of the system's mass and still doesn't get to be the center; the giants, 0.13%, drag the true center outside the Sun's own surface most years. Being most of everything is not the same as being the point everything agrees on.
