# Torrent · the spectral steed

Torrent is the spectral steed — a goat-horned spirit horse who chose the Tarnished as his rider. He is summoned anywhere in the open world by Melina's ring, appearing wherever the road demands him and vanishing when it does not.

In motion he is the answer to the Lands Between's scale: double-jumping up cliffs that would wall off any walker, wheeling through cavalry duels where footing decides everything. He is not a mount so much as the journey itself — the companion who makes the open world traversable at all.

And he endures. Torrent is one of only two beings present from the first grace to the last — the constant alongside the Tarnished across the whole arc of the journey. His emergence is natural: a beast and a companion who chose his rider, the embodied stride by which the world is crossed.
