# Miquella the Unalloyed · the Empyrean cursed with eternal youth

Miquella is Marika's son and twin to Malenia, an Empyrean — eligible to become a god — yet cursed with eternal childhood, never to grow. Of all the demigods he is the most beloved, and his curse cuts both ways: eternal youth is at once affliction and instrument, a kindness that cannot come of age.

He abandoned fundamentalism to found unalloyed gold, a gold that repels the meddling of Outer Gods, and he grew the Haligtree to shelter the unwanted. Where others cast souls aside, Miquella raised a tree to take them in.

Yet through the base game he slumbers — stolen from his cocoon by Mohg — and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion follows his shadow into the Land of Shadow. The beloved Empyrean is, for most of the tale, an absence: a promise sleeping, pursued through what he left behind.

His emergence is spiritual because everything about him bends toward godhood and grace — an Empyrean's eligibility for divinity, a faith remade in unalloyed gold, and the sacrifice of a self that can never age, given over to shelter others.
