drag the detuning. transfer 16→4 stays near-perfect while the ghost's peak occupancy collapses as (2g/Δ)². far detuning: the box is barely there and the traffic still flows through it.

three boxes: 16 above, 4 below, and between them the ghost — box 8, drawn translucent. the animation runs the actual transfer in slow motion: watch 16 drain, 4 fill, and the ghost flicker only while amplitude passes through. it lights; it never fills. drag to rotate.

ELI5: there's a room on the staircase that isn't on the map. question: does anyone live there? we checked two ways. the toll booth (the rail) says: only ONE toll was paid crossing that stretch — if someone had stopped in the room, there'd be two tolls. nobody stopped. but the hallway camera (the wavefunction) shows something wilder: everyone who goes from floor 16 to floor 4 walks THROUGH that room — the light flicks on for a blink as they pass — and the further away we push the room (detuning), the shorter the blink, but the people still get through. so: nobody LIVES in box 8, and everybody TRAVELS through it. empty home, busy corridor. both true at once.

method & provenance

double verification. box8.py ran the rail forensics, the currency-collision identity, and RK4 Schrödinger at Δ/g=5,10,20,40 (transfer, peak occupancy, slope fit −1.874); this page re-runs all of it live in independent JS, including the RK4. baked ≠ live ⇒ red monitors, dead verdict.
AMBER · anchors & interpretation. Superexchange, two-photon Raman transfer, and cotunneling through blockaded dot levels are the training-memory anchors for "occupied in amplitude, empty in population." The mapping seam→virtual state is a ratified interpretation of the ROOT0 spec, not a derivation. The slope's finite-Δ deviation (−1.87 vs −2) is measured and displayed.
